Instructions for generating a diagnostic log file

The diagnostic log file enables me to diagnose problems on your system by logging the responses to and from your news server. By looking at these responses, I can usually figure out what the problem is and come up with a fix. To generate a diagnostic log, follow these steps:

  1. Load up SBNews.
  2. Select the pull-down menu option "Configure" and "Default Command Line Switches"
  3. On the command line switch dialog, check the box next to '-diag: Diagnostic log"
  4. Press OK to exit the dialog, and then close and exit SBNews completely.
  5. Restart SBNews and replicate the problem.
  6. Exit SBNews once the problem has occurred
  7. There will be a file called 'diagnost.log' in your SBNews directory. Send this file to me via email at smbaker@primenet.com
  8. Once you have completed this process, you should load up SBNews and disable diagnostic logging
